A Quanti-Qualitative Approach to Alexander’s Harmony-Seeking Computations

چکیده
Harmony-seeking computations, as proposed by Christopher Alexander, offer a way to tackle complexity. Smart, free agents, facing uncertainty, look for order in context powered fifteen attractors, or patterns. would then be relatively guided path across those idealized patterns, towards wholeness and beauty. However, individuals acting change the city must combine circumstances imposed external inner urban forces with personal interpretations of one more patterns that could all time. Moreover, each action is intertwined others, an unpredictable outcome. This article explores possibility bringing together outer ingenious individuals’ actions hypothesizing: (a) structural attribute defined spatial centrality; (b) beauty meaning attached places, evolving either from historic accumulation individual assignment; (c) every meaningful approximation between them; (d) disaggregated description organism, based on multi-layered graphs, which possible record both morphological territorial characteristics (form, transport, infrastructure) semantic attributes (land uses, public image, remote associations, symbolic relationships); (e) set differentiation measures, mostly centrality, potentially able depict (by measuring effect component others) robustness derived any selected components). A multilayer graph-based approach algorithms provides framework description, analysis, performance evaluation component, well whole system, through quantitative qualitative representation.

Formalising Harmony Seeking Rules of Morphogenesis
The 15 generative patterns of Alexander’s “Nature of Order” are descriptions of architectural structures that are seen in both buildings and in the natural world. We are investigating various aspects of complex systems, including those relating to structural patterns that may underlie those systems. Here we describe some experiments to generate 2D structures that incorporate those patterns that...

ly we may express this concept through the following diagram. The red area is a latent center, a weak center which has the capacity to heal the blue area beyond it: and it is able to do so by creation of the smaller white centers -they are built to create coherence in the red center. However, the key point is that the healing will not take place, unless the red center then also helps to heal th...

This paper describes Harmony, a practical grid infrastructure built using personal computer resources. Harmony addresses the key concerns of end users for responsiveness, privacy and protection by isolating the grid computation in a virtual machine on the PC and by implementing a layered resource management architecture to divert workload to unutilized computers from those currently experiencin...

the aim of this study has been to find answers for the following questions: 1. what is the effect of immediate correction on students pronunciation errors? 2. what would be the effect of teaching the more rgular patterns of english pronunciation? 3. is there any significant difference between the two methods of dealing with pronuciation errore, i. e., correction and the teaching of the regular ...

abstract previous studies on willingness to communicate (wtc) have shown the influence of many individual or situational factors on students’ tendency to engage in classroom communication, in which wtc has been viewed either at the trait-level or situational level. however, due to the complexity of the notion of willingness to communicate, the present study suggests that these two strands are ...
